Westwinds sits at the heart of North Cornwall's Seven Bays — each with its own character, from sheltered coves to surf-battered headlands. Over the stile and you're in the dunes; ten minutes by car opens up the rest.
Boobys’s Bay
Our favourite and just a minutes walk from the house. At low tide it merges with Constantine to form over half a mile of unbroken golden sand. The name comes from a gannet-like seabird once spotted diving offshore in storms. Dog-friendly all year round. The best for surfing but check the tides!
One of Cornwall's best all-round beaches — wide, sandy, and sheltered enough for families yet with rolling Atlantic swells that keep surfers coming back. Dog-friendly year-round with no seasonal restrictions.
Based right on Harlyn Beach — surfing lessons, sea kayaking, coasteering, SUP tours and the wonderfully unusual SUP yoga on the Camel Estuary. Led by a leading water-safety instructor; beginners and experienced surfers both catered for.
A Surfing England & ISA Centre of Excellence based at Polzeath and Harlyn Bay. Specialising in personalised private surf tuition for all levels, with a focus on building confidence and progression in the water. Mobile, so they move with the conditions across the seven bays.
A sweeping west-facing stretch of pale sand just along the coast, with consistent surf, rockpools and a surf shop and deli nearby. At low tide it connects directly to Booby's Bay — popular with surfers and rock-pool enthusiasts alike.
Cushioned from the wind by Merope Rocks and tucked behind Trevose Head, this sheltered gem rarely gets too crowded. A personal favourite for both summer sandcastles and romantic winter walks.
A north-west-facing sandy cove surrounded by low cliffs and backed by dunes, set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Excellent for rock pooling and sheltered sunbathing in the small coves at the water's edge.
A naturally formed sea pool at Trevone Bay — perfect for a refreshing dip away from the surf. The Beach Box Café next door has a wood-fired pizza oven and bar open into the evenings.
